Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy treats skin ageing by stimulating the production of new cells, to rejuvenate the skin’s appearance and make you look visibly younger.

How does it work?
The skin comprises three layers— an outer layer called the epidermis, an underlying layer called the dermis and the subcutaneous tissue. Both the dermis and the subcutaneous tissue are rich in a protein called collagen, which acts as the skin’s scaffolding to keep the skin firm. As we age, our natural levels of collagen start to deplete, which results in the appearance of wrinkles, jowls and the loss of skin volume and tightness. During Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy, ingredients that have been isolated from a sample of your blood are carefully injected into your face to trigger the production of new cells and collagen. By stimulating the production of the body’s collagen naturally, this treatment provides a gradual increase in skin volume and once the skin renewal cycle has been completed, the skin will have a more youthful glow and will look refreshed and rejuvenated.

What to expect?
The treatment starts by taking a small sample of your own blood. This blood is separated into its different constituents, namely platelets and red blood cells. The platelets are blended with a fibrin mixture and this is injected just below the surface of the skin. This process stimulates the regrowth of elastin and collagen, which in turn fills fine lines and plumps sagging skin.

Does it hurt?
Prior to the treatment, the face is anaesthetised with an anaesthetic cream. The injections can take up to 30 minutes and the area can be a little sensitive to touch immediately afterwards. Patients with sensitive skin may experience temporary bruising.
