IPL Photo Rejuvenation

Skin imperfections can have a huge impact on a person's confidence and self-image. It can be a hereditary condition, the effects of ageing or too much time in the sun.

At Eternel Clinic we offer Intense Pulse Light (IPL) or Photo Rejuvenation, a non-invasive procedure to improve the colour and texture of the skin.

What conditions can IPL Treat?
IPL can successfully treat various skin conditions which include:

  • Sun/age spots
  • Red veins
  • Acne Scars
  • Rosacea along with other skin irregularities.

Treatment can be used under the eyes, around the mouth and chin area for smoothing out fine lines and firming the neck and jaw line and is excellent for nasal-labial lines (nose to mouth lines). IPL can also be used on the chest area to clear, plump and smooth the decollete area. Sun or age spots (on the face and body) visibly diminish during the course of treatment and red or spider veins can be closed down, leaving the skin looking clearer and brighter.

Treatment can be used in conjunction with other treatments such as Skin Peels to tackle pigmentation. This lifts and exfoliates the skin and enhances the photo rejuvenation process.

How does it work?
IPL works by emitting a range of different wavelengths in each pulse of light. These target areas in the skin which are different in colour to the surrounding tissue, such as scars, freckles, some birthmarks and other areas of pigmented skin.

Heating the collagen within the skin using IPL will improve the complexion, skin texture and tension. A series of treatments will stimulate an increase in the production of collagen over a period of time. The result is visibly clearer skin which looks and feels clear, plump and firm.

How is treatment administered?
A cold gel will be applied to the area to be treated and you will be given dark glasses to protect the eyes from the bright light. The smooth, glass surface of the IPL hand piece is gently applied to the skin and pulses of light are applied.

Is it painful?
Most patients do not feel pain, only a mild tingling sensation on the skin.

Is it safe?
IPL is a safe, non-invasive treatment which has minimal side effects and requires no recovery time.

How many Treatments are required?
A course of 4 to 6 IPL treatments are generally recommended to rebuild facial collagen and achieve maximum results. These are carried out 3 weeks apart until treatment is completed. Improvement in the skin should be noticeable after the first treatment. Final results will be visible at the end of the course.
